Equipment and Workmanship Warranties

  • Workmanship : Daylight (the provider) guarantees the solar system will be free from material defects in workmanship during the 25-year term.

  • Roof : If the installation involves roof penetrations, Daylight warrants against water damage caused by those penetrations for 10 years, or the length of any existing roof warranty, whichever is longer.

  • Repair Promise: Daylight will repair or replace defective parts or workmanship at no cost, including labor, when covered under the Limited Warranty.

  • Home Damage: If the installer damages the home during installation or maintenance, Daylight will repair or pay for those damages (up to $500,000 total liability).

  • Exclusions: The warranty does not cover issues like:

    • Damage from acts of nature (storms, trees falling, etc.)

    • Alterations made by the homeowner

    • Normal wear and tear or cosmetic issues

    • Shading from new trees or vegetation

    • Theft of the system

Daylight specifically disclaims any additional implied warranties such as merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, beyond what's listed in Exhibit 3 of the agreement.

Production Guarantee

  • Guaranteed Energy Output: Daylight guarantees that the system will generate at least 90% of the forecasted kWh in each 3-year calculation period (as listed in Exhibit 1).

  • Credit for Shortfalls: If actual production falls below the 90% forecasted kWh threshold, Daylight will credit your account for the shortfall amount multiplied by a set credit rate ($/kWh). Example: If 500 kWh less energy is produced and the credit rate is $0.10/kWh, you receive a $50 credit.

  • Exclusions: The production guarantee doesn't apply if underproduction results from:

    • Force majeure events (storms, grid failures, etc.)

    • Customer actions like shading, disconnecting internet/monitoring, or roof work

    • Theft or vandalism

  • Excess Production: If production exceeds forecasts, the extra output is rolled over to offset future shortfalls, but not refunded at the end of the term.

  • Termination of Guarantee: Ends immediately if the homeowner buys the system.

Manufacturer Warranties

  • The provider owns the system and holds manufacturer warranties.

  • Daylight agrees to submit warranty claims to the manufacturers on your behalf using commercially reasonable efforts. When/if you purchase the system, manufacturer warranties are assigned to you.

When the System Is Purchased

  • Once the customer purchases the system, Daylight's maintenance, insurance, and production guarantee obligations end. The Limited Warranty (Exhibit 3) continues for its remaining term.

  • All assignable manufacturer warranties are transferred to the customer.
