Site Survey Photo Package Reference Guide

This document outlines the minimum photo requirements for completing a Site Survey and defines every section, field, description, and image requirement.

Sections and field codes correspond directly to the SiteCapture site survey template.

Arrival / Customer Information

1A. Calendar Invite Screenshot

Provide a screenshot of the calendar invite confirming the appointment, showing the customer name, address, date, and time.

2A. House Number Photo

Photograph the full house with the address number clearly visible. If a mailbox is used, include the house in the background. Also provide a close-up of the number itself.

3A. Home Exterior — All Sides

Photograph all four sides of the home (front, rear, left, right)

Exterior

1B. Meter Location

Step back from the meter to show the full wall and all clearances (sides, top, bottom, and front) around the meter enclosure.

2B. Meter Close-Up

Photograph the meter face close enough to read all identification numbers (meter number, serial, utility ID). Use a tape measure alongside the meter if needed.

3B. Additional Exterior Equipment

Document any additional utility equipment: gas meter, water meter, generator, transfer switch, etc. Photograph each item with all identifying labels visible.

4B. Weather Head / Point of Attachment

Photograph the weather head or service point of attachment at the roofline. Mark N/A if the property has underground service entry.

5B. SEU to Utility Pole

Photograph the service entrance cable (SEU) from the weather head to the utility pole to document its condition. Mark N/A if the property has underground service.

6B. Location of Nearest Transformer

Show the pole where the nearest transformer is located, including all visible markings. If underground, photograph the pad-mount transformer box and all visible labels.

7B. Any Exterior Damages

Document any existing damages to the property (house, driveway, landscaping, fencing, etc.). List all damages in the notes field. Mark N/A only if no damage is present.

Interior

1C. Ceilings on Highest Floor

Photograph ceilings on the highest occupied floor. Note and photograph any pre-existing damage: water stains, cracks, sagging, or other defects. Annotate location in the notes field.

2C. Main Panel — Step Back (Clearances)

Step back from the panel to show the full wall and all clearances (sides, top, bottom, front) as required by code.

3C. Dead Front On

Photograph the panel with the dead front (cover) fully installed and secured.

4C. Brand Label

Close-up photograph of the manufacturer brand label on the panel enclosure. Ensure brand name, model, and certification marks are legible.

5C. Label with Breaker Locations / Amps / Load Capacity

Photograph the full breaker directory label(s) inside the panel door. All breaker positions, ampere ratings, and load descriptions must be legible. Multiple photos may be needed.

6C. Dead Front Off

Photograph the panel with the dead front removed, showing the full interior. All breakers, bus bars, and wiring should be visible.

7C. Close-Up of Feeders

Photograph the feeder/service entrance wires entering the panel. Show wire size markings where visible. Include the main lugs or main breaker connection.

8C. Close-Up of Breakers — ALL Including Main

Provide close-up photos of all breaker rows including the main breaker. Ampere ratings must be clearly readable. Photograph left and right columns separately as needed.

9C. Any Additional Labels / Inspection Stickers

Photograph any additional labels, inspection stickers, municipal approval cards, or energy efficiency certificates affixed to the panel or enclosure. Mark N/A if none are present.

10C. Bus Bar Rating Label

Photograph the bus bar rating label inside the panel showing maximum bus ampacity, interrupting rating, and wiring diagram. All text must be legible.

11C. Path of Grounding to Exterior

Follow and photograph the grounding electrode conductor from the panel to its exit point. Include wire size markings where visible and show the ground rod or water pipe connection.

12C. SubPanel

If a subpanel is present, document it following the same sequence as the main panel (fields 2C through 11C). Mark N/A if no subpanel exists.

13C. Generator / Transfer Switch

If a generator or transfer switch is present, document it following the same sequence as the main panel (fields 2C through 11C). Mark N/A if none exists.

Attic

1D. Location of Access to Attic / Crawl Space

Photograph the attic access hatch or pull-down stair location from below, including the surrounding ceiling area.

2D. 360-Degree Attic Survey

Photograph the entire attic interior in all directions to show the full rafter/truss layout, insulation depth, and any visible obstructions. A minimum of 6 photos is recommended.

3D. Indicate Photos Coordinating to Roof Plane by Number

Photograph each roof plane from within the attic and number them to correspond with exterior roof plane drawings. Mark N/A if planes cannot be individually identified.

4D. Rafter Size, Spacing & Span for Each Roof Plane

Measure and photograph rafter dimensions (depth x width), on-center spacing, and span length for each roof plane. Use a tape measure in frame. Multiple photos required.

5D. Location and Spacing of Collar Ties, Knee Walls, Truss

Photograph the location and spacing of collar ties, knee walls, and/or truss webbing. Measurements must be visible in at least one photo per element.

6D. Ridge Beam Dimensions

Photograph the ridge beam with measurements visible. If no ridge beam is present, photograph the peak/ridge area clearly showing how opposing rafters meet.

7D. Sheathing Size, Stamp if Possible

Photograph the roof sheathing from below. Capture any visible grade stamps or thickness markings. Multiple photos from different panels are recommended.

8D. Pitch of Rafter for Each Roof Plane

Use a digital angle finder or pitch gauge and photograph the displayed reading against the rafter for each distinct roof plane.

Finished or Vaulted Ceiling Protocol

Complete this section only when attic access is unavailable or a vaulted/cathedral ceiling prevents standard rafter measurement.

1E. Any Access to Rafter Dimensions in Attic or Crawl Space

If any partial attic or crawl space access exists, photograph and measure rafter dimensions from that vantage point. Mark N/A only if completely inaccessible.

2E. Dimensions from Removing Soffit

If soffit removal is feasible to expose rafter ends, photograph the rafter end dimensions in the opened soffit cavity. Mark N/A if soffit removal is not possible.

3E. Dimensions from Skylight or High-Hat Lighting

If a skylight rough opening or high-hat can housing provides access to rafter depth, photograph the dimension from that opening. Mark N/A if not applicable.

4E. Access to Attic Vent

If an attic or gable vent provides a viewing angle into the rafter cavity, photograph and document any measurable rafter information. Mark N/A if no usable vent access exists.

5E. Cut and Repair Ceiling in Closet or Discreet Location

If a small ceiling access cut in a closet or inconspicuous area is authorized to expose rafters, photograph the opening and rafter dimensions. Mark N/A if not authorized.

6E. Stud Finder

If a stud finder is used to locate rafter positions through finished ceilings, photograph the tool readings. Mark N/A if not applicable.

7E. Floor Plan Available

If an architectural floor plan or builder plan set is available showing structural information, photograph or scan the relevant pages. Mark N/A if no plan is available.

Roof

1F. 360 Skyline

Photograph the full skyline surrounding the property to document nearby trees, buildings, or shading obstructions. Mark N/A only if obstructions cannot be captured from the site.

2F. Profile of Shingles Layers

At the roof edge, photograph a cross-section view showing the number of shingle layers, typically visible at the rake edge or drip edge.

3F. Pliability Test

Photograph the result of a pliability/flexibility test on a shingle tab. If no visible damage is found, mark N/A with a note.

4F. Roof Condition Photos — Missing Shingles, Soft Spots, Waves, Nail Pops, Damaged Flashing

Photograph any and all roof defects. Mark N/A only if the roof is in pristine condition with zero defects confirmed during the survey.

5F. Photos and Measurements of Obstructions — Chimney, Pipes, Vents, Skylights, Dishes (Satellite)

Photograph and measure all roof obstructions including dimensions and clearances.

6F. Roof Planes — Numbered to Correspond with Interior Attic Photos

Photograph each roof plane from the exterior and label each with a number matching the attic interior photos from Section D. Mark N/A if not applicable.

7F. Soffit

Photograph the full soffit underside on all sides of the house

8F. Projection of Soffit

Measure and photograph the horizontal overhang depth of the soffit from wall face to fascia.

9F. Pitch for Each Plane

Use a pitch gauge or digital level to measure the pitch of each individual roof plane. Photograph the tool reading against the surface. A separate photo is required per distinct plane.
